Hotel Maes-y-Neuadd
- Maes-y-Neuadd is a very old Welsh manor
house, dating from the 14th century. It is steeped in history
and has been converted into a country house hotel, while
retaining its old world character. The hotel is a good base
for exploring the Mountains of Snowdonia, the North Wales
coast, the Lleyn Peninsula, Portmeirion, the Blaenau Ffestiniog
Railway, historic castles like Harlech or Conway and other
fascinating places. Situated among some of the most beautiful
scenery in Britain, with spectacular views across the Snowdonia
National Park, Maes-y-Neuadd nestles into a wooded mountainside.
The oldest part of the house was built less than a century
after Edward 1st's mighty castle at nearby Harlech. Sixteenth,
eighteenth and twentieth century additions to this gracious,
historic Manor, blend harmoniously, the Welsh granite and
slate combining strength and character with peace and charm.
The house is in the personal care of the Jackson and Payne
families who have sympathetically restored their home to
provide the highest standards of comfort and luxury for
today's discerning traveler. Guests from all over the world
now enjoy the warm and friendly atmosphere offered at Maes-y-Neuadd.
Every fascinating corner is there to be explored and enjoyed;
the bar with its ancient inglenook and recesses full of
interesting curios... the sunlit conservatory where you
may enjoy morning coffee or afternoon tea...the terrace
where, on warm summer nights, you can enjoy the magnificent
spectacle of the sun setting over the Lleyn Peninsula...
and, of course, the gracious and elegant Dining Room where
delicious dishes are created by the talented chef, using
the succulent fresh produce for which Wales is renowned.
The lamb, fish and the wonderful variety of Welsh Farmhouse
Cheeses are unsurpassed.
