Arabella Golf Club
- At Arabella Golf Club, the theme is
balance. Challenging enough to bring you back for more,
enjoyable enough to make you not want to leave. The design
challenge was headed by the renowned architect Peter Matkovich.
His undoubted success has resulted in a course that complements
the environment without disappointing the golfer, whether
expert or amateur. The course was awarded the Golf Digest
award for the best new course in South Africa in 1999. In
2002, the course was rated number 9 in South Africa by Golf
Digest and number 5 in 2003. Arabella Golf Club was awarded
the Compleat Golfer Five Star award in 2003. The course
is 6381 meters in length and has a SAGU rating of 72. It
borders the largest natural lagoon in Southern Africa, and
the 9th, 17th and 18th run parallel to the lagoon. At strategic
places, where there is no water, bunkers have been placed.
The lagoon landscape is attractive, and the Arabella ranks
among the ten most beautiful courses in South Africa. The
course is always in excellent condition, with well-trimmed
fairways and extremely fast greens. Choosing a signature
hole proves to be an extremely difficult task as all of
the holes are well designed with spectacular views.
